Four Weeks to Reconnect
The Herd Support Project, funded by The National Lottery Community Fund
Some of the most meaningful changes happen slowly, one visit at a time.
With support from The National Lottery Community Fund, we're opening up funded and half-funded places on our four-week 1:1 programme for adults and children across our community. Each week builds on the last, giving you the space to settle, feel understood and grow in confidence alongside the horses.
The Herd Support Project gives adults and children four weeks of 1:1 sessions with our herd. Every session in this programme is individual, giving you our full attention and plenty of time with the herd. If you're looking for group sessions or workshops, take a look at our other services.

Who is this programme for?
The programme is open to adults and children who would benefit from time with the herd, including:
-
Adults experiencing stress, anxiety, burnout or emotional overwhelm
-
Children who find big feelings, confidence or communication difficult
-
Neurodivergent adults and children looking for a supportive, strengths-based space
-
Anyone navigating change who wants a calm place to reset
Structured 1:1 Sessions
Each programme runs over four consecutive weeks, with every session building on the one before. Coming back week after week gives you time to settle, get to know the horses and feel the difference that steady connection can make.
Trauma-Informed and Neuro-Affirming
Like all our services, the programme is grounded in trauma-informed, attachment-aware and neuro-affirming practice. Sessions move at your pace in a calm, non-judgemental space.
Learning Alongside the Horses
Horses respond honestly to body language and emotion, giving gentle, immediate feedback. Through non-ridden groundwork, nature-based activities and reflection, participants build confidence, emotional regulation and communication skills.

Space to slow down and reconnect
Adult's 1:1 Programme

Life can leave little room to pause, especially if you're carrying stress, anxiety or the weight of caring for others.
The adults' programme gives you 1:1 time with our herd to breathe, reflect and reconnect with yourself. Horses respond to how we feel as well as what we do, which makes them wonderful partners for exploring confidence, boundaries and communication. We begin by helping your nervous system settle, then build week by week towards setting goals that feel meaningful to you. You're welcome exactly as you are, and every session moves at your pace.
Nervous System Reset
We start by slowing down. Time with the herd helps your body and mind settle so you can arrive fully in the session.
Children's 1:1 Programme
For children who find big feelings, confidence or communication difficult

Our children's programme is full of play, curiosity and quiet moments with the horses. Over four weekly 1:1 sessions, children get to know the herd, learn how horses communicate and discover how their own feelings and body language make a difference.
Through games, groundwork and a very special obstacle course, they build trust, confidence and a sense of calm they can take home with them. Every session is shaped around your child, their pace and what helps them feel safe, and parents and carers are always kept in the loop.
Nervous System Reset
A gentle introduction to the horses and the yard, helping children feel safe, calm and ready to explore.
Funding & Pricing
Funded places are limited, so we look at each request in the order it arrives and consider it alongside a few key factors to make sure support reaches the people who need it most. These include:

Financial hardship or low household income

Children, young people or adults with SEND, disabilities or additional needs
Poor emotional wellbeing, anxiety, stress, trauma, social isolation or low confidence

Difficulty accessing support elsewhere because of cost, waiting lists or a lack of suitable local provision

Funded & Half-funded
Fully funded places go to those with the highest level of need and the least ability to contribute. Half-funded places are for people who would benefit from support and can make a reduced contribution.
Sometimes we may ask for supporting information from a professional, such as a school, GP, social prescriber or social worker. This is always optional, and we'll never let it become a barrier to getting support.
Once places are filled, we'll add you to our waiting list and let you know as soon as a space opens up.
